Ok so my friend Jumoke ( not real name) and I were talking last week and of course we got talking about men! MEN MEN MEN!! However for a change it was a positive talk. She is in a relationship now and her boyfriend loves her off...he adores her, spoils her, has a good job, people say he is fine (but he is not my type) and he actually says that she is the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with. Just so sweet and nice and just full of awwwwwing moments, I was even teasing that “ah na wa oh soon you too will get married, sha give me aso ebi”, she followed with that girly I’m so loved up giggle - all in all a very different conversation compared to the usual my boyfriend is “such a pig” conversations. So y did Jumoke spoil the moment by saying “Tolu u remember Kunle” (not his real name) the love of my life that cheated on me with the whole of London ( hmmmnnnn yes I do he was the biggest player and she was the biggest fool) but I answered “yes I do hun what’s up”? (at this point I’m thinking what has happened now?) then she says it.....we have been talking and he is saying that “he is sorry about all we went through, he knows he messed up but he did it because he knew it would always be me he will end up with....he said that it has always been me and he is ready to settle down”!!! WHAT? Am I hearing right? They have been talking? Not only that they have really been conversing because I don’t know how old feelings come into a conversation with an ex unless you are entertaining it!!! Hmmmnnnn ok oh. Anyway I say “ wow really ah but Jumoke that guy is a real rat” after his girlfriend has dumped him for his cheating ass and he had begged finished now it has always been you abi” I know that sounded harsh but frankly I was pissed had we not just spoken about her amazing boyfriend?..... “Tolu, I didn’t want to tell you cos u are always judging me”...”ok Jumoke I’m so sorry I dint mean to I was just shocked that’s all, ma binu dear oya fill me in” the story goes like this, he had called her out of the blue after they had said hello on facebook about 2 months ago....this conversation lasted for 3 hours and the next day, day after and every day since then (ok guys sorry to interrupt but what!! We all know that once an ex gets into your head for more than 30 minutes and u entertain it...he knows he can get you and even if he hates your guts he will try....it’s an ego thing). Back to the story... anyway they have been chatting and her boy friend doesn’t know about this... she doesn’t like him oh as she says but to her it’s fun to see the man she loved with all her heart say he wants her back.... at last her fronting moment. Well we chat about this for ages and I end with as long as you know what you are doing then it’s all g..after all who am I to judge..I am a woman I have gushed at the fact an ex wants me back..don’t know about chatting everyday sha.

During the week: the friend in me investigates and I find out that the Trifling Kunle indeed has another girlfriend and is still begging his ex that dumped him and now Jumoke...ok oh what’s my own? No! I am her friend lemme tell her abi?

Monday: I call Jumoke and she sounds really down, “what’s up gel?”

Jumoke: nothing I’m just chilling

ME: hissss!! Errr I know you too well something is up? Tell me now am I not your friend

Jumoke: ok!! Well Kunle and I have been talking and he has convinced me that he loves me and isn’t seeing anyone and I am the one.....I can’t lie I have been thinking about it....but he says that i should give it time before I break it off with my boyfriend.. i know he is amazing but he isn’t my KUNLE!

ME: (I’m thinking MY kunle ke, kunle belongs to 2 girls oh u making the 3^rd) but i say..hmmnn I want to even tell you sumething sef?

Jumoke: what’s up......................wait Tolu let me call you back mum is calling me

Tolu: OK!

Wednesday: Jumoke calls me shrieking with sobs

Jumoke: OMG he found out, my boyfriend found out

ME: what ?how?? huh?

Jumoke: he saw our bbms and texts...and i couldn’t deny it, maybe it was Gods opportunity for him to find out so me and Kunle could finally get back together?

ME: seen are you happy about it and have you told Kunle this?

Jumoke: of course I am..I know my ex boyfriend was amazing but he is now my Kunle and now we can give it another shot as I am the one he’s always wanted. However I told him and he sounded shocked that I shouldn’t have done things like that..that he doesn’t think I am ready to be with him..we should have left things they way they were for a bit more! Anyway I know he is happy just nervous..............

ME: (I’m thinking this girl is a real fool...did she just say that to me and she did not read between the lines? He is saying he doesn’t want you...it was a flirt that’s all....)

Had it always been her he knew would be a mugu and he could use for his ego trips.....hhhmmmmmm

Anyway guys I know that she will find that out from him sooner or later...but as a friend I knew he was playing her.......what do I say now?

I have entertained ANGELS and not even known it!

I am at work at the moment, listening to my daily dose on online sermon and the Bishop started the sermon with “ We have all entertained angels and not even known it”. How awesome are the wonders of the Lord. I know this is a hair blog, but I just have some thoughts that I would like to share. This year so far has been one of mixed feelings- many ups and downs, self growth and in some cases I have been forced to look at myself in the mirror and face myself squarely. As a young woman entering her adult life I am faced with very serious and life changing questions- what do I want from this life? Who am I really? What do I deserve? Am I really worth all my dreams and aspirations? Can I live up to what my parents, siblings, husband and children would expect of me? and the most frightfully of all will I ever be somebody.....maximise my potential of who I want to be? Make a change in the world, leave my mark??

Well today all became clear, As a 24 year old woman, I am not doing too bad, I know I am a wonderful daughter and I am the best sister I can be, I have the back of all my friends and I am certain some have mine too, I run the RHB with the most amazing friend who has now become a sister, I have breath, good health, WHAT!! When I count my blessings they are endless................so why all the anxious thoughts.....is it something I will always think about and feel as a woman, after all my mother feels like she should be more than she is and to me she is the most amazing woman in the world- there is a need of always bettering one’s self and always feeling inadequate.... Fioye and I have these talks, and the feelings all the same....what? when? How? Why?

However the difference between today and yesterday is that I have now realised what the fire under my butt has been and OMG my angels! My angels! My angels! My angels!! You will find favour in the eyes of many you meet in life....and that has been the story of my life.. in the form of love, care, shoulder to lean on and emotional balance the lord has strategically surrounded me with people that would make me grow and make me want to aspire to be more than I am at the moment....it all makes sense now....my angels believe in me so much...I feel like I need to rise above and beyond their expectations of me, how wonderful it is for people to love you as you are, flaws and all....and you have not even reached your potential...you are not all you are destined to be and they love you all the same...They love me not even caring of the future unknown....could that be why I want to be a better person in the future...for me first of all but also to make them prouder, give them the “I knew she will be somebody. But even if she wasn’t I would still love her”.

To name my angels will be me writing for many pages, but I have to call some people out, I have to shout out to My family- mum, dad and brothers and my sister Fioye.... I guess to y’all you were doing your duties but to me you are my angels....the Lord strategically placed you in my life to provide love and care and a reliable shoulder to lean on. And I can’t believe that I have entertained angels and not even known it!! eeeekkkkkkkkkkk

I am not certain that after today I won’t go back into a state of anxiety thinking about the future and anticipating what is to come however I am so excited now, I’m full of positivity and thankfulness...If I have entertained so many angels and not even known it....How many more will I entertain in the future?? I can’t wait!!

We all have many angels in the form of different people in our lives...and when things get tough, always think about your angels and delight in it......if they believe in you, then who are you not to believe in yourself and strive harder....

I have met so many angels through therealhairboutique and I am grateful to you all!

Aarrgghhh, ok I wouldn’t get mad about this because this is the first time I am blogging about it, however if I have to blog about it again I might go off the wall. Whenever we sell hair to clients we always make sure that we tell them and in some cases show them how to take care of their hair extensions..... so how come we still get “why doesn’t my hair look like yours”? This is a step to step guide to keeping your hair extensions looking healthy and also prolong its longevity.

First of all, at Therealhairboutique, all out hair is 100% human, so naturally we would advice that all hair extensions be taken care of like you would your own hair after all it is Real Human Hair.

How to take care of hair your hair extensions

Wash- When your hair extension has been installed, we would recommend that you wash your hair every 7-10 days depending on how fast residue builds up in your hair. Depending on the type of hair you have in or the your geographical region, your hair would react differently to residue build up, however most of the time it usually leads to hair looking limp and dull and in some cases may cause tangling. When washing hair, we would recommend using a clarifying shampoo or a moisturising shampoo, some of our favourites are Herbal essence, Treseme or Aussie miracle. It is important to brush out kinks before washing!

Conditioning-This is a very important step to taking care of hair extensions, it is like breathing life to the cells of the hair. Conditioners make hair stronger, add moisture to the hair shaft, and also makes the hair feel softer and smell nice. After washing your hair, we would recommend that you condition your hair for at least 15 mins. If you feel that your hair requires a lot of moisture, you can condition for up to an hour (for those that do this at home all you need is to put conditioner in your hair, put it in some sort of shower or hair cap and go about your daily household duties). When hair has conditioned to the desired effect, rinse thoroughly. Some of our are some of our favourites are Herbal essence, Treseme or Aussie miracle

After care- After washing and conditioning the hair, you can either leave the hair to air dry, sit under a dryer/ roller set or you can dry out with a hand dryer and a hair brush. However you decide to style your hair make sure you don’t sleep with wet hair.

Other recommendations

· Unless your hair has already been bought in lines, we would recommend you cut your weft as little as possible to prevent excessive shedding

· Always brush hair out and put in a pony tail before bed to avoid tangling

· If your hair is curly, a quick styling trick would be to put some water in a spray bottle and a little bit of leave in conditioner, spray on the hair and watch the curls pop back. Note: this is not a substitute to washing your hair!

· When you use serum, use a dime size unless you feel your hair needs a bit more. Excess serum can cause residue in the hair weighing it down and making it look lifeless and greasy

· AVOID using hair pomade, sprits, gel, wax etc on the hair extension unless you know what you are doing . In my opinion I would only recommend hair serum. However if you have a leave out, you can apply products on your natural hair.....in moderation.

To be honest, I never really noticed Joy Bryant until I read this post in essence magazine last year I think, and I cant lie I was filled with envy as my first thought was Damn why did I not write this.....it was like she was in my head and she stole my thoughts..... anyway I cannot hate on the sistah and I admire her for her honesty! there is no point in denying the love of hair weaves claiming your long luscious locks is all your hair or claiming you gat a few tracks in the hair when you know you have at least 2 bags of therealhairboutique hair on ya head....... :-) so without further ado, here is the post.... Gosh I’m in love with weaves and I am unrepentant....

As the threads of the grown-out tracks were being snipped, I broke out my laptop and began my ritualistic daily web search. I go from news of the day to articles/blogs about the news of the day, ending up on entertainment/gossip/fashion stuff. But that day, something caught my attention and trumped all of the glowing reviews of President Obama’s health care speech: It was Tyra’s hair. National Real Hair Day? I missed that one...In fact, on National Real Hair Day, I was calling Extensions Plus in L.A. to make sure they had enough of the 20” "relaxed roots" texture hair that I love oh so much (and that keeps selling out like crazy!), and making an appointment to get my hair, I mean, my weave, hooked up. So Tyra, while I didn’t take part in your observance, I just want to say: "WOW!" You are such a brave woman for breaking the chains that bound you since your teenage years! What courage that took, for you to expose yourself to millions of people! Such fearlessness! Oh, how I wish I had the guts to do that. I guess I’m much too much of an insecure, self-loathing Negro for all that self-acceptance foolishness. I’m glad we got down to solving the mystery of what’s under your lace-front, though. I mean seriously, it was "THE" question that has perplexed the world over. And now we see that there’s a beautiful head of hair underneath it all, hair that was surprisingly relaxed and ready for the world. Whodathunkit?! If I had the same length and fullness of hair that you have, I might take my weave out too. Ha!!!! I’m just playing! Even if I DID have your "real" hair, I’d still be wearing a few tracks or clip-ons up in there. Why? Because I’m straight weave fo life, kid!!! Ima ride ride wit this weave, die die with this weave!! Let me break it down for you: See, I loooooove taking new hair out of the bag, combing through it with my fingers, holding it up with my two hands, and burying my face in it. Mmmm, mmmm, mmm! Nothing like a new batch of zig-zag curly to get your self esteem out of the dumps! The feeling of getting my hair, I mean, my weave done over. I feel human again. I feel sexy. I feel powerful. It makes me feel...it makes me feel...it makes feel like a natural woman!!! I can be whatever, whoever I want to be with the stroke of a sewing needle... With long brown tresses and a tan, I’m Pocahontas, 'cause I got Indian in my family. With easy waves, I AM bohemian rhapsody goddess personified. And now that I got blond highlights! What!? I know I look like beyonce! You can’t tell me nothing! Uh oh, uh oh... And then I looked up from my computer, and caught a glimpse in the mirror of my head minus the long weavy locks. I looked crazy! Awww hell naw! I looked over at the new batch of hair sitting off to the side waiting to join forces with me. Damnit, I’m trapped, I thought to myself. I can’t let it go. I am powerless over it. Just when I think I’m done, it pulls me back in! Now I guess I can get help for my self-loathing addiction. I can learn to accept myself in my entirety. I can emancipate myself from that which keeps me locked-up. I can embrace the natural state of things. Yup, I can do all of that… But don’t hold your breath! New beginnings and dedication

Hello all,

I know we haven’t updated in a while, but so much has been happening and un-happening that somehow I had kind of forgotten about the blog. However over the past month, I have been thinking about blogging a lot and I was almost scared to log unto the blogger page because it was a reminder of something I had started and not finished it kind of pointed out my lack of dedication to the blog cause and made me feel real sour! However I realised that it is not over till it is over and like everything in my life that I have started I need to see to a successful end. Why am I writing so serious after all it is just a blog? Well I remember when we started this blog I was full of ideas and excitement and dedication.....I had set goals and made plans... with the aim of making this a “kind of big deal” to everything hair. When the blog was created all of a sudden it felt like well now I have posted a couple of things...I can always make posts whenever I want.....and I haven’t for almost a year. This is like many things I have started in life...many ideas I have thought about but not seen to an end or not even tried to pursue to an end. I don’t want to be one of those that never finish what they started so I have decided that I would use this blog as a voice and hopefully make a success out of it.

So the real hair boutique girls are back into the blogger world, as this is our new beginning, we would be changing up the dynamics a bit. Not only is this a hair blog, but it is a blog where we would talk about anything that has caught our attention in other areas of life. Hope everyone is good?

I get alot of requests and questions about straightneing wavy or curly hair.

Such types of hair are a bit more difficult to to get super straight. But over time, I have been able to try various techniques. The one I am about to show you is the best and easiest technique .

Whats you need to do first is wash and condition your hair. Comb out the hair and leave it to airdry.

Allow the hair to airdry-say about 90% dry,

Work about a coin size amount of hair serum (Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum)and heat protectant (Dove) into the hair, focusing on the tips.

THE HAIR IN ITS NATURAL STATE

Then blowdry the hair in small sections, I prefer to blow-dry my hair line by line. The hair should be blowdried properly dry. It will look something like this....FEAR NOT!!

You are now ready to straighten your hair. You should invest in a good pair of straighteners that go to a very high heat setting. Depending on the texture of you hair, you should work the straighteners through each section once or twice. THAT'S IT...

Happy new year to everyone. Wishing everyone Gods abundant blessings.

So a couple of days I got some old hair from my aunt. And it was hacked to pieces. She wanted me to do soemthing about it because it was they really had a go at the wefts. Now very many people have this same problem when they take out their weaves. Its in little bits all over the place and they dont know what to do with it. Those who are able to find the courage to wash it usually end up having a tangled mess on their hands.

Over the years of wearing weaves, I found the following steps useful in ensuring that you are able to get the best out of your weaves which you have spent so much money on.

So when you take your weave out, its all dirty, some times in bits from all the cutting of the weft. It may look like this.

Fear not, all you have to do is arrange the various bits according to the lengths. I.e put similar lengths in small manageable bunches, holding it tight at the top of the weft and brush out any kinks. Like this

After this has been done, get a couple of rubberbands, and roll the hair up, using the rubber band to hold the hair in place so that it looks like a pony tail like this:

Brush the hair out . I beleive that bunching the hair up into rubber bands makes it more easy to control as you have a tighter grip on the hair and on the way wash the hair. It is better than having the hair in different bits, scattered around which makes it harder to control therefore more prone top tangling.

You are now ready to wash. Always make sure that the hair is washed in a downward stroking motion, after shampooing, apply conditioner, combing through the hair in a downward stroking motion. Leave the hair to condition for about an hour, comb out and rinse in a down ward motion. DO NOT SCRUNCH THE HAIR AT ALL. I used Herbal Essence Coconut and Orchid for dry and damaged hair (shampoo and conditioner)

Lay a towel down on a flat surface and leave the hair to dry flat on the towel like this:

after a couple of hours or one full day, you should have your luscious hair back again, looking something like this!!! ciao!!

seasons greetings to you all. Hope everyone has been having great holiday. I certainly have.

Some of use buy human hair extensions that come straight and are very difficult to hold a curl when tonged or rollerset .

Look no further as I have found the miracle product. Its Schwarzkopf Supersoft Fixing MOUSSE.

Yes you are reading right MOUSEEE!!. I know people bang on about not putting products in you hair, but with this product a little goes a long way.

It does not hold the hair down nor is it sticky like most mousse products. It costs £1.99, which makes it one hell of a bargain.

I used it on my mums malaysiain hair (malaysian hair is know for its fine straight texture), which I felt was a good candidate

to test the durability of this product.

After washing and conditioning (FOR 30 MINUTES) her, I put a palm full of mousse all over her hair

I set it in rollers and she went under the dryer for 1 hour.

I let the hair cool in the rollers and I brushed the hair out. The bounce was AMAZING and the texture was soft.

I applied a bit of serum for extra shine.

Now my mum has returned to Nigeria (HOT AND HUMID) she says the hair is still bouncy and thick and full and the curls are still popping!!

Yes this is random, however i was chatting with my brother and he was asking how me who i think i am when i wear weaves!!! so i thought ill make it interesting and ask everyone who they think they are without and weaves in their hair......

NO weave: i feel very naked.....dont get me wrong it is not lack of confidence....i just feel like i am not wearing my major accessory cos i have been wearing weave 4 years back to back........... its like a woman going out without her handbags!! (wwwooommmpppp)
WITH weave : i feel like tha baddest chic in town, aint nobody can tell me nothing (except when it is greasy which is not a good look)..........call me narcisic but im sure someone out there agrees...

now i am asking, who do you think you are? with and without your weaves? please no judging allowed...this is just pure fun.....

Naturals Also??

heya guys,

as a natural girl i find doing my weaves a bit limiting as i am mostly confined to putting all my hair in IE the full head weave, however over the past months, i have been experimenting with ways in which i can enjoy my weave without always having to put all my hair is as it can be a bit uncomfortable. without anymore ramblings, ill share some pictures of hairstlyes i have done using the Pick and drop method.

Pick and drop with peruvian hair 300 grams 24, 20 and 16 inches

I know I look busted but it is down to dissertation stress. Indian 12, 14 and 16 curly

Recently, i have been looking for lots more styles that can be versatile and still glamorous looking and i must say i have been taken by the lace closures.
when i have studied and become a pro at the technique, i would give my opinions and the 411 on it.
for what its worth, i did try it, i am not too satisfied with the closure, but it has given me an idea of the vision so i am on a rampant search to find the perfect one that works well with my afro puffs!!!!
yes i know i know, this is FIRST trial,so the glue is obvious however, it looks really nice from afar.
well hope that could help and if not at least you got some hair porn!! :-)

Product Review-Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum

Hi guys

first, can I say thanks to all the people who entered the last competiton. We will be running another one pretty soon, so watch this space.

Down to the post for today: I came accross a product that i found absolutely amazing and just though I should share. It is the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum (see picture above). It does exactly what it says on the bottle, "smoothes and conditions" hair. I apply once after washing my extensions. When it is damp, I take a small amount (coin size), rub it in my palms and spread evenly. It works amazingly, leaving the hair smooth, shiny (nice shiny) and it smells great too.

I would recommend this to everyone who uses human hair extension, and would also advise NOT TO USE ANY THING BUT HAIR SERUMS (for moisture after washing) on your extensions. It is a salon brand, so cannot be found in major drug stores. However, you can get e bay (where you get great deals, and most salons for Caucasian hair stock this brand.

Hello everyone

First of all can I say a big THANK YOU, to all the people who have been very kind about the blog. Thanks for all the loveeee!!

A lot of times, people are a bit confused as to what can be done with human hair (virgin hair) extensions. I always say to them treat your HH extensions like you would treat your hair.

So just to clarify, YES YOU CAN:

Wash your weave!
straighten, curl, roller set !!
blow dry (see video)
colour, bleach and tint!

I also stress that to get maximum use of your extensions, you should wash it at least every other week (once a week is preferable). the reason for this, is that, the hair extensions do not get any supply of oil from your scalp, therefore, moisture is key to luscious hair.The moisture is received mainly from deep conditioning (see previous post)

The video below shows the effect of a blow dry I got at my Local salon. They put a little bit of styling mousse and used a round brush to get the flicked out ends.

How to wash your weave/RANTTTT!!

Hi Guys

First of all I will like to apologise for the rant which is about to happen.....
, Ok so I spend hours trying to edit the video on how to wash..i was like "..what in the weave heck..." is this. First of all editing the video is a pain, and then having to wait hours for it to be uploaded on to you tube. Then I see the uploaded sign and I sing praises, BUT (and its a big BUT) the audio has been disable because of copyright infringement on Cheryl Cole's song (Fight or this love)*WTH* RANT OVER!!

So it goes that I have to upload the video without the audio, however, I have put some captions to make it easier for you guys to understand.

The video shows how I wash my weave, I hope this video is helpful to the very many people who always ask me how I do it.

This is my way of doing it and of anyone has any alternative ways of washing, please let us know in the comment section. I promise to "BRING IT" with future videos.

Hello Ladies

So this will be our first post on all things hair!!We are so excited and cant wait to get into the grind of things.

A couple of months ago we had a photo shoot which we had been planning for AGES!! It was a stressful but fulfilling day and all the ladies who took part were absolutely fantastic and JOY to work with....Here is the video of a a fraction of the whole day!!

Back with more posts as soon as I can understand what the heck YouTube is all about ...sigh!!
